The future of furniture industry should be written with a capital letter!

It was the motto of the 5th International specialized exhibition Furniture Club, the largest exposition of furniture industry and one of the most significant exhibition events organized by the Crocus Expo IEC. The exhibition was held November 10 through 14 in Moscow.

As of today Crocus Expo IEC is the only fairgrounds in our country to host three largest furniture industry shows in Russia with exhibit space totaling more than 100 000 sq m.

The exhibition Furniture Club is an excellent platform to encourage networking among industry specialists and professionals, an opportunity to present your products and services to distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists, find new partners, discuss current market conditions and to accelerate the development of the most effective solutions in today’s market situation.

The organizers of Furniture Club consider it principal objectives to create a perfect platform for experts of all segments of the furniture market, support Russian manufacturer and increase of nationally produced furniture competitiveness.

Business is not limited to talking: space rates allow many beginning companies taking the first confident steps on a way to success. There is a moratorium on space rates established for 2008-2010 Furniture Club editions for loyal exhibitors on the level of 2007 edition. An extra bonus is an active advertising campaign of the event which allowed many participants to declare about themselves absolutely free.

Press conference on the opening of the exhibition Furniture Club has attracted the best specialists of furniture and wood processing industries and representatives of the Moscow region government. Arkady Zlotnikov, First Deputy Director Crocus Expo IEC, opened the press conference and noted significance of the event for development of the furniture market of Russia. The members of the presidium also agreed with the statement. The following high ranked persons were in the presidium of the press conference:

• Victor Cherepov, Executive Vice-president of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP);
• Valentin Zverev, President of the Association of Furniture and Wood Processing Enterprises of Russia;
• Roman Sokotaniuk, Director General ZAO Avangard;
• Alexandra Yurchenko, Director of the exhibition Furniture Club.

Valentine Zverev was the first to take floor and welcome mass media representatives. He has summed up the results of the year. Prospects of the furniture market development are definitely great, even, despite crisis influence which had essentially affected demand in the segment. In 2009 furniture manufacture reduced by 25 % and production sales by 20 %. However at the same time the figures became the strongest stimulus to increase manufacturing companies and dealer chains competitiveness. According to Mr. Zverev the recession has pushed the branch to new stages of development. Aiming to remain in the market the companies have to introduce innovative policy in marketing and promotion: thus the demand for production will be raised and the realization factor will become normal. At the end Mr. Zverev has expressed huge gratitude to Crocus Expo IEC for the organization and holding of this scale and significant event which really assists the representatives of the furniture industry in establishing partnership relations and in raising business profitability.

Victor Cherepov, Executive Vice-president of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), continued the meeting with journalists and told about the work executed by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) aiming to reduce taxes for value added cost and customs duties, and also about other ways of furniture and wood processing industries improvement in crisis conditions. He has also noted that national producers have very good prospects judging by their stands which are no worse compared to foreign companies.

A welcome letter on behalf of the Ministry of the Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation addressed to participants and visitors of the exhibition has been read during the Official Opening Ceremony of the 5th International specialized exhibition Furniture Club. Moreover the opening ceremony was opened by Dmitry Bolshakov, Vice-president of the Government of Moscow Region, who greeted exhibitors and wished them fruitful and successful work and noted the exhibition’s great influence on the development of national furniture industry.

The organizers have also cared about working business space. Aiming to provide more effective working conditions to exhibitors and visitors they have arranged a business centre for exhibitors and visitors to apply to free of charge services of the business centre equipped with all necessary facilities (office equipment, Internet access, negotiation rooms etc.)

The format of the business program of the exhibition Furniture Club 2009 has been aimed at providing the most effective dialogue between exhibitors. Topics of round tables, seminars and briefings covered all aspects related to the furniture market business: marketing and advertising policy of the furniture segment, finance and economy, taxation and legislation, issues related to sale and warehouse distribution, efficiency of sales and customer care issues.

Students, planning to make career in the furniture industry had an opportunity to learn a lot of new useful things, after all the new generation already declares itself at the top of the voice. The best designs made by young perspective designers, students and graduates of the Moscow State Arts and Industry University (MGHPU) named after Stroganov were exhibited within the frames of Furniture Club especially for the "future" of the furniture industry. By tradition Crocus Expo IEC had undertaken all expenses related to educational institutions participation in the exhibition.

Indicative competitions Furniture of the Year and Rossiyskaya Kabriol’ which helped to reveal new names in professional community of national furniture segment and served as stimulus for other exhibitors were held within the frames of the exhibition Furniture Club.

More than 100 000 visitors came to the exhibition during five exhibition days.

Crocus Expo IEC has already gained a reputation of a leading exhibition platform of Russia which is being constantly improved striving to increase rendered services standards for exhibitors, organizers of exhibitions and visitors of the complex. Alongside with three modern pavilions the Crocus’ infrastructure includes Aquarium Hotel, multifunctional concert hall Crocus City Hall for 6200 seats, a free parking lot for 26 000 cars, food courts and restaurants.
